Bentley to unveil its first pure-electric SUV, the Torcal, in Monterey

Bentley plans to reveal the Torcal, its first battery-electric SUV, at a Monterey showcase next month. While the model shares basic engineering with the Porsche Cayenne EV, Bentley has reworked the platform to meet its luxury standards, resulting in a vehicle that is shorter and lower than the Bentayga while retaining generous interior space. The Torcal is equipped with a battery pack that aims for an EPA-rated 300-mile (482 km) range, or up to 600 km (373 miles) under WLTP, and can accept 400 kW DC fast charging.

Power output exceeds 850 PS (838 hp/625 kW) and torque surpasses a thousand newton-meters, though Bentley is not pursuing four-digit horsepower figures. Martin Page, the product line director, emphasized that the car’s calibration focuses on smooth, effortless acceleration that feels confidence-inspiring for everyday use. He demonstrated these qualities while driving a pre-production unit around Pebble Beach during U.S. localization testing.
