Berlin Left Party leadership distances itself from deputy Vanessa Emde

The Berlin leadership of Die Linke announced it will separate from Bundestag member Vanessa Emde, citing a lack of cooperation.

Die Linke's Berlin faction chair Tobias Schulze said the party can no longer work with deputy Vanessa Emde after internal consultations. He noted that a recent social-media post effectively withdrew her signature on the faction's founding declaration, indicating no common basis for collaboration. The faction board will discuss next steps at a meeting on Tuesday, with Emde invited to attend.

Why it matters

The split reveals growing internal discord within Berlin's Die Linke and could affect its parliamentary cohesion.
