Bihar Extends Kushal Yuva Skill Scheme to 2031 with New Courses and Funding

Bihar’s administration approved a five-year extension of the Kushal Yuva Programme, now spanning fiscal years 2026-27 to 2030-31, with an initial allocation of ₹430.08 crore. The scheme will refresh its curriculum to reflect advances in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, introducing courses in solar power, drone operation, networking, home nursing, laboratory techniques, emergency medical response, beauty and wellness, web development, digital marketing, banking, Tally, language proficiency and entrepreneurship.

A network of 6,436 training centres is expected to serve about 2.57 lakh young people each year, supporting both job placement and self-employment. Applicants must be 15-28 years old and have passed Class 10, with higher age ceilings for SC/ST, OBC and persons with disabilities. The training includes 40 hours of life-skills, 80 hours of English-Hindi communication and roughly 120 hours of basic computer instruction, delivered in a 240-hour program. Exams are held monthly in four daily slots.
