Bihar man lured to Delhi and killed; eight arrested after 12,000-km manhunt
A man from Bihar was allegedly drawn to Delhi under the pretense of settling a feud and was shot dead, prompting arrests of eight suspects after a coordinated 12,000-km operation.
Authorities allege that Md Irshad Alam, known as Guddu Badshah, traveled from Supaul district in Bihar to a rented flat in Pul Prahladpur, southeast Delhi, after being promised a settlement of an old dispute with Shamshad and Ashafak. The encounter turned fatal when he was shot on July 28. A subsequent probe identified eight conspirators who facilitated the murder by providing accommodation, logistics, and illegal firearms, and who later tried to pose as victims or hide evidence.
Coordinated raids in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana and Tamil Nadu resulted in their arrests, spanning an estimated 12,000 kilometres of travel. Evidence from call records, CCTV and technical surveillance linked the suspects, including a recovered pistol, magazine and live cartridges. All eight have been presented before a court, and investigators continue to seek additional weapons and any further participants.
