Bill de Blasio Says Voters Crave Socialist Leaders’ Policies on Affordability
Bill de Blasio told viewers that many Americans are eager for the progressive agenda promoted by the Democratic Party’s socialist faction.
Former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio appeared on a news show and argued that a sizable portion of the electorate is hungry for the vision offered by the Democratic Party’s left-leaning wing. De Blasio endorsed several policy ideas associated with the movement, including ending the war in Iran, implementing Medicare for All, and raising taxes on the nation’s wealthiest individuals.
He also called for the dissolution of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, proposing a new agency to secure borders without the violence he attributes to ICE, and suggested a legalization pathway for undocumented immigrants without serious criminal records. Although he stressed he is not a socialist or a DSA member, he expressed support for many of the group’s economic and social priorities.
Why it matters
