French diagnostics firm BioMérieux launched a rapid troponin test that uses a single drop of blood and provides results in about ten minutes, speeding emergency care.
BioMérieux introduced an ultra-fast diagnostic test for suspected heart attacks, delivering troponin readings from a single finger-prick in ten minutes. The innovation follows the 2025 purchase of Norwegian medtech SpinChip Diagnostics and fits into a machine only slightly larger than a standard printer. By miniaturising and accelerating the assay, the test can help emergency departments discharge patients whose cardiac risk is ruled out, freeing up crowded wards.
Hospital staff report interest in installing the system inside ambulances to begin assessment before reaching the emergency room. Pierre Boulud, BioMérieux's chief executive, highlighted the potential to improve survival odds by shortening the decision-making window.
