BJP nominates Hasirani Rath, mother of Suvendu Adhikari's former aide, for Nandigram by-poll
The Bharatiya Janata Party has chosen Hasirani Rath, mother of the late personal assistant Chandranath Rath, as its candidate for the Nandigram assembly by-poll.
In the upcoming Nandigram by-poll, the BJP fielded Hasirani Rath, whose son Chandranath Rath previously served as a personal assistant to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The party announced her candidacy on Tuesday from New Delhi. This move follows the vacancy created after the seat became vacant. Hasirani Rath will contest the election representing the BJP.
Why it matters
The candidate choice ties the BJP to a prominent state leader's inner circle, affecting the political dynamics of a key West Bengal constituency.
