BJP official charged under POCSO after assaulting teenage girl at Indore Garba event
BJP mandal president Kamal Chauhan was booked under the POCSO Act for pushing and misbehaving with a 15-year-old girl at a Garba event in Indore.
Kamal Chauhan, identified as a BJP mandal president and close supporter of MLA Ramesh Mendola, faced criminal charges after a video captured him forcibly pushing a 15-year-old girl at the Garba celebration held at Kankeshwari Ground in Indore. The incident occurred when the girl attempted to give a pass to her sister, who was performing, and Chauhan allegedly argued and expelled her in front of family members. The minor, a resident of Khatipura, lodged a complaint; Heeranagar town inspector KK Sharma recorded her statement and an FIR was lodged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and molestation statutes.
In response, the BJP state leadership, led by Hemant Khandelwal, served Chauhan a show-cause notice, demanding a reply within three days. Chauhan claimed the altercation stemmed from a dispute over entry passes while he was managing the event. The case has drawn public attention due to the viral spread of the video on social media.
