BJP slams Congress leader Kharge for ‘Modi’s father will go’ remark
BJP condemned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge after he said “Modi’s father will go” at a Bihar event, calling the comment indecent.
During a function in Patna commemorating the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar’s first chief minister Shri Krishna Singh, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge answered a heckler’s claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not leave by saying “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (“Even Modi’s father will go”). The Bharatiya Janata Party immediately attacked Kharge, accusing him of breaching political decorum and using language reminiscent of a mafia gang.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X that the remark crossed the limits of decency and added that Congress has repeatedly resorted to abusive references to Modi’s family, including “maut ka saudagar” and “chaiwala”. Shah linked the outburst to the party’s string of electoral defeats and said the opposition now relies on slander rather than policy. The controversy is set against a broader clash over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, which Congress alleges targets minorities while the BJP says the opposition is trying to discredit constitutional bodies.
