BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthran draws fire for personal jab at Tamil Nadu CM

During a book-release event at the BJP headquarters in Chennai, state president Nainar Nagenthran alluded to a recent assembly remark by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and proceeded to make a disparaging comment targeting the chief minister’s mother. The statement drew swift rebuke from Health and Family Welfare minister K G Arunraj, who said the ruling TVK government would respond through actions, and from School Education minister A Rajmohan, who called the remark uncivilised and unfit for a senior leader.

Party vice-president Khushbu Sundar also condemned the comment as crude, invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Nari Shakti vision to stress that women should not be used as political pawns. Former BJP state chief K Annamalai added that such attacks cross the line of political decency. Nagenthran responded on social media, insisting his speech lacked ulterior motives and reaffirming his commitment to mother, motherland and mother tongue. The controversy highlights tensions between the BJP and the ruling TVK administration in Tamil Nadu.
