Blaze-filled two-vehicle collision in Perris kills 8-year-old, injures five
A crash near Ramona Expressway and East Rider Street in Perris resulted in the death of 8-year-old Camila Leon and left five other occupants hurt.
Cal Fire and Riverside County sheriff’s deputies responded to a severe crash near Ramona Expressway and East Rider Street in Perris at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, discovering two wrecked vehicles, one consumed by fire. The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau confirmed that the deceased was 8-year-old Camila Leon of Perris. Six occupants were hospitalized: Camila, who later succumbed to her injuries; a young passenger who remains in critical condition; an adult in stable condition; and three others who were treated and released.
No arrests have been made, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Traffic Reconstruction Team is leading the ongoing investigation. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact deputy Joseph Puente.
