Blizzard unveils open-world StarCraft shooter slated for 2030 release

At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard Entertainment revealed its next major project: an open-world shooter named “StarCraft,” set for a 2030 release. While it represents the third main installment, the company chose to drop the numeral and market it as a fresh entry in the series. The title marks the first new mainline game since “StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void” debuted in 2015, following the original 1998 release.

The reveal took place during the opening ceremony at the Anaheim Convention Center. In addition to the game, Blizzard announced that Netflix is developing an animated television adaptation of the “Diablo” franchise. A teaser trailer for the new “StarCraft” game was shown during the event.
