Bluesky introduces opt-out setting to keep posts out of Discover feed

Bluesky, after recently supporting longer video uploads, launched an algorithmic opt-out feature on Thursday. By enabling a new switch in the Privacy and Security section, users can stop their public messages from being shown in the Discover feed that surfaces content across the network. This option does not convert posts to private status; it merely limits exposure to people outside a user’s current follower base.

The preference is stored at the account level, meaning it follows the user even when posting from other applications that use the AT Proto protocol, although those apps must decide whether to respect the setting. The platform notes that the change can require up to an hour to become fully active.
