BMW-Mini, Porsche and Jaguar Pull Out of Paris Motor Show Amid Economic Concerns
BMW-Mini announced it will not attend the Paris Motor Show, joining Porsche and Jaguar in skipping the event due to economic pressures.
Just three months before the Paris Motor Show, BMW-Mini surprised the industry by cancelling its participation, attributing the decision to financial strains and a slowdown in China. The move deprives attendees of the forthcoming BMW i3 electric sedan, which boasts a 912-kilometre range and ultra-fast charging, as well as a new 3 Series built on a different platform with hybrid and six-cylinder engines. Porsche also confirmed its absence, leaving the iconic 911 and a newly announced mid-engine supercar off the exhibition floor.
Jaguar chose to present its luxury electric limousine at a private event in New York rather than at the show. To compensate, organizers will feature an “(Un)Limited” zone displaying rare models and supercars. The withdrawals highlight the pressure on automakers amid market headwinds.
Why it matters
Major car makers skipping the Paris show signals industry strain and reduces the event's appeal for buyers and media.
