BMW unveils 2027 i3 sedan with up to 468-mile range and $62,850 price tag

BMW confirmed that the upcoming 2027 i3 50 xDrive electric sedan will arrive in the United States in the first quarter of 2027, with a base price of $61,500 plus a $1,350 destination charge. The model pairs a 322-horsepower rear electrically excited synchronous motor with a 165-horsepower front asynchronous motor, delivering a combined 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. It runs on the automaker’s Gen6 high-voltage battery that uses cylindrical lithium-ion cells, offering a 20 % boost in energy density, and is rated for up to 468 miles of range under EPA testing.

The vehicle adds features such as bidirectional vehicle-to-load/home charging, a redesigned iDrive cockpit with a 17.9-inch free-cut touchscreen, Alexa’s large-language-model assistant, and future TiVo-powered video streaming. A sportier i3 M60 xDrive version with M-specific styling and larger wheels will also be released in 2027, though its price has not been set.
