Body believed to be missing Manchester man found during Colombian search
The family of a British expatriate were told a body thought to be his was discovered in Colombia, prompting grief and awaiting official confirmation.
Anton Green, a 43-year-old Manchester native who had been residing in Colombia for two-and-a-half years, stopped contacting his family in August, an unusual change in behavior. His relatives were notified early Thursday that police had uncovered a body in Bogota that is believed to be his. The revelation came just hours after the family issued another appeal for assistance in locating him.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it is aware of the death of a British national and is offering support. Green’s mother, Nylva McKie-Williams, recalled his last words to her were “we will speak at the weekend.” The family are now waiting for further information from the Attorney General’s Office in Bogota. Public figures such as Marcus Rashford, a family friend, had previously supported the search.
