Body of 9-year-old recovered from Batangas river after rescue attempt
A 9-year-old boy who vanished while trying to save his brother was found dead in the Pansipit River near Lemery on Oct. 26.
The Philippine Coast Guard in Batangas located the child's body near Palanas Bridge at about 3:20 p.m. on Monday. The boy had disappeared the previous day after attempting to pull his sibling from the strong current. Family members said the younger child was swept downstream toward deeper water. Authorities recovered the remains and are notifying relatives.
