Body of missing 82-year-old found on Largs beach after ferry incident
Police say a body believed to be that of 82-year-old Jim Wither, who vanished after possibly falling from a CalMac ferry, was recovered on Largs beach.
An extensive search was launched on the evening of October 18 after reports that an 82-year-old man may have fallen into the water from the CalMac ferry MV Caledonian Isles en route from Ardrossan to Arran. The missing individual, Jim Wither of Johnstone, was last observed walking toward Beith Road around 12.18 pm. Police Scotland received a report on October 25 that a body had been found on Largs beach, and they believe it to be Wither's. While officials have not yet completed formal identification, the family has been notified. The investigation does not consider the death suspicious, and a formal report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
