Bodycam footage shows NYPD officers fatally shooting knife-wielding woman in Times Square

Released on Friday evening, NYPD body-camera video records the final moments of a knife-attack in Times Square that began on August 31. Pamela Cisneros, a Queens resident and mother of three, had already stabbed Tak Kam and killed Bank of America staffer Erin Piacenti after pulling two knives from a red Target bag. Officers Ryan Brito and Francis Gagliano arrived first, repeatedly urging her to drop the weapons and breathe, while also asking about her belief in God.

As additional officers arrived, they fired tasers, which did not deter her. When Cisneros began circling the knives and charging at the officers, Joseph O’Connor and Steven Darcy discharged three rounds, causing her to collapse and later die at a local hospital. Police records indicate Cisneros had a prior mental-health history, including a suicide attempt.
