Bomb squad dispatched to Lerwick Town Hall after suspicious device found

Police Scotland received a report at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday that a possible bomb-like device had been found at the back of Lerwick Town Hall in the Shetland Islands. Emergency services responded, and a police cordon was set up around John Jamieson Close, as well as parts of Hillhead, Charlotte Street and Hill Lane. The public has been asked to avoid the restricted area while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team travels to the site to assess the object.

Officers are conducting inquiries and have asked anyone with relevant information to contact the force, referencing incident 2658. The situation remains under investigation, with safety measures in place to protect residents and visitors.
