Bomb threats target dozens of schools in Borsod region and one in Budapest
The National Investigation Office reported new bomb threats aimed at nearly 30 schools in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and a Budapest educational institution.
The Nemzeti Nyomozó Iroda disclosed that bomb threats were sent to close to 30 schools across Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county and to a single educational institution in Budapest. The threats arrived via email to a news portal and directly to the Budapest school's mailbox. Police are adhering to standard protocols, contacting each school and working with administrators to implement precautionary actions.
Building searches have been completed without finding any explosive material or viable weaponry. This case follows a wave of threats earlier in the week that affected more than seventy schools and a separate warning to ELTE's practice schools. Local mayors, including Tóth-Szántai József, Janiczak Dávid, and Fekete Zoltán, have commented on the incidents, with Janiczak sharing the threatening message on social media.
