Bonnaroo Festival Announces 2027 Hiatus to Repair Weather-Damaged Grounds

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival will skip its 2027 edition, citing the need for the site to recover from repeated severe weather events.

Bonnaroo officials confirmed that the annual music and arts gathering will take a year off in 2027 to allow the site to heal from ongoing extreme weather conditions. The festival, held in Manchester, Tennessee, has faced a series of climate-related setbacks, including a full cancellation in 2025 after a day of performances and a rain-induced shutdown in 2026. In preparation for the 2026 event, the organizers invested in enhanced drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways, and 135 acres of fresh grass to bolster the venue’s durability.

Despite these upgrades, consecutive storms, notably a heavy rainstorm on a Sunday, have left the main area, The Farm, in need of a recovery period. The pause was described as a difficult but necessary choice to protect the future of the festival. Headliners for the 2026 edition included The Strokes, Noah Kahan, Kehsa, and Role Model.

Why it matters

The hiatus highlights how climate challenges are forcing major events to adjust schedules and invest in infrastructure.
