Booker Blames Israel and Trump for Iran War, Challenger Calls for Tougher Stance on Settlers

Senator Cory Booker accused Israel and President Donald Trump of rushing into a costly Iran war, while GOP challenger Justin Murphy urged a firmer U.S. response to Israeli settlers.

In a Lawrenceville debate, Senator Cory Booker charged that both Israel and President Donald Trump share responsibility for the United States’ involvement in a war with Iran, describing it as one of the president’s most foolish decisions. He highlighted the human toll, the billions spent that could have addressed domestic needs, rising gasoline prices and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Booker also disclosed that he raised $1.3 million from pro-Israel donors, with AIPAC contributing $818,206, though he has since stopped accepting PAC money.

Republican challenger Justin Murphy defended the war, saying it prevents Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and urged Trump to finish the job. Murphy also criticized the president for not confronting Israeli settlers he says are attacking Palestinians, calling for a harder line to stabilize the region.
