Border Patrol agent's journal reveals AK-47 tracking before his 2010 murder

Excerpts from Brian Terry’s journal, indicate he was actively tracking an AK-47 shipment on a silver SUV in early November 2010 and reported the find to the FBI. A later entry shows he was conducting night surveillance to confirm or deny weapons smuggling, focusing on routes from Honduras through Guatemala into Mexico. According to his brother Kent, Terry’s supervisors told him to allow the weapons to cross the border.
The journal was discovered taped inside the toe of a new pair of tactical boots after the family was finally permitted to enter Terry’s house. The family also reports that Terry’s laptop was wiped and the home was searched shortly after the discovery. The case ties into the broader Fast and Furious operation, which allowed illegal firearms to flow to Mexican cartels and was later exposed after Terry’s murder.
