Borosil Renewables to boost solar glass output by 60% with new furnaces

Borosil Renewables Ltd announced a 60 percent capacity expansion at its Bharuch, Gujarat facility, adding 600 tonnes per day via two new 300-TPD furnaces. This will raise total solar-glass output from 1,000 to 1,600 TPD, with a revenue goal of Rs 2,500 crore by FY28, up from Rs 1,535 crore in FY26. The move tackles a large mismatch between India’s need for about 11,000 TPD of solar glass and one outlet domestic supply of roughly 2,600 TPD, and follows recent anti-dumping measures on imported glass.

The Rs 1,000 crore project is being funded by equity, debt and retained earnings, with civil works already in progress and equipment orders placed. Borosil highlighted its differentiated product portfolio, including antimony-free textured glass and fully tempered 2 mm glass, and outlined plans to develop a downstream rooftop solar solutions business. The expanded capacity is slated to be operational by the end of FY27, positioning the company to capture growing market demand.
