Bosnia and Herzegovina media barred from campaign coverage starting October 3

The Communications Regulatory Agency has ordered all broadcasters and radio stations to cease election-related reporting from 07:00 on October 3 until polls close on October 4.

The Communications Regulatory Agency reminded all audiovisual and radio providers that they must observe the election silence period ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s general elections on October 4. The silence starts at 07:00 on October 3 and lasts until the polling stations close, during which any reporting on political or campaign activities is prohibited under Article 16.11 of the Election Law. Additionally, the agency highlighted that publishing results of public-opinion polls is barred from 07:00 on October 2 until voting ends, as stipulated in Article 16.10.

These rules apply across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and cover all media outlets. The agency’s notice serves to ensure compliance with the legal framework governing the election process.

Why it matters

The ban aims to prevent media influence on voters during the critical final day before Bosnia and Herzegovina’s election.
