Bournemouth sign Sevilla right-back Juanlu for £11.1 million as squad nears completion
Bournemouth have completed an £11.1 million transfer for Sevilla defender Juanlu, signing him to a five-year deal as manager Marco Rose finalises the squad for their Europa League debut.
Bournemouth confirmed the purchase of Sevilla right-back Juanlu for a total package of £11.1 million, securing the 22-year-old on a five-year contract. The deal consists of an upfront £9.4 million fee plus up to £1.7 million in performance-related add-ons. Juanlu, a former Spain Under-21 player who helped his nation win Olympic gold in Paris 2024, becomes the club’s third signing this window after centre-back Antonio Silva from Benfica and striker Alvaro Rodriguez from Elche.
Manager Marco Rose indicated the squad is now about 95 % complete ahead of Bournemouth’s first European campaign in the Europa League. The acquisition follows the loan departure of Alex Jimenez to Fiorentina, after the 21-year-old was suspended in May over alleged social-media posts.
Why it matters
The signing strengthens Bournemouth’s defence as they prepare for their inaugural Europa League season.
