Bradford drug ring sentenced to over a century for £4.3m Class A trafficking
Twelve members of a Bradford-based drug syndicate received a combined sentence of more than 100 years after being convicted of supplying large quantities of cocaine and heroin across Yorkshire.
A serious organised-crime investigation by West Yorkshire Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit exposed a Bradford gang that supplied more than 135 kg of cocaine and heroin, worth roughly £4.3 million. The group, led by Idris Khan, used trusted couriers such as Akif Hashmi and Ibrahim Sajad to transport the drugs, while others handled money laundering and distribution. At Bradford Crown Court on 12 October, twelve defendants were sentenced to a total of over 100 years in prison, with penalties ranging from three years to sixteen years.
Two further members, Moshin Bangash and Lukman Patel, have pleaded guilty and will be sentenced on 28 October. Detectives praised the complex, multi-officer effort that dismantled the network and warned that the harsh sentences aim to deter similar criminal enterprises.
Why it matters
The convictions disrupt a large-scale drug supply chain, aiming to reduce drug-related crime and violence in the region.
