Brazilian poll shows Lula's advantage shrinking ahead of possible runoff
A recent AtlasIntel/Bloomberg survey indicates President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva leads Senator Flavio Bolsonaro by a narrower margin for a potential second-round election.
According to an AtlasIntel/Bloomberg poll of 5,014 respondents, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva would secure 47.1% of the vote against Senator Flavio Bolsonaro's 42.6% in a second-round contest. The same poll shows a slight contraction from a July survey that gave Lula 49.2% and Bolsonaro 42.9%. When modeling a first-round outcome, Lula leads with 43.4%, Bolsonaro follows at 33.7%, while Augusto Cury, Renan Santos and Ronaldo Caiado receive 7.8%, 7.6% and 3.3% respectively.
The previous first-round figures were 44.9% for Lula and 35.8% for Bolsonaro. The study was carried out from August 25 to 30 with a stated margin of error of one point.
