BRICS adopts New Delhi Declaration to boost sustainable transport and supply-chain resilience

At a summit in New Delhi, BRICS nations adopted a declaration that expands collaboration on sustainable and resilient transport systems. Building on meetings held in Nagpur and earlier in July and August, the text incorporates a supply-chain cooperation framework, an urban mobility hub for knowledge exchange, a railway research network and a urbanisation knowledge framework. The parties committed to joint work on transport policy, investment, technology and capacity building, while acknowledging climate-change impacts on infrastructure in developing economies.

The declaration also calls for a framework on transport decarbonisation leveraging renewable energy potential. Additionally, a task force on public-private partnerships submitted a technical report on PPP models and risk-allocation mechanisms to support member countries.
