Bride Trapped Under Husband's Body for Hours After Wedding Helicopter Crash
A newlywed couple's celebratory helicopter ride ended in a crash, killing the groom and leaving the bride trapped under his body for nearly six hours.
Jesni Sam and Dave Fiji, a Delta pilot, boarded a Prestige Helicopters-operated Robinson R66 after their wedding at the Revere in Dawnsonville, Georgia, for a nighttime send-off to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. Minutes after takeoff, the aircraft clipped tall trees and crashed into the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area, killing Fiji and the pilot, Nikhil Nargundkar. Sam, seriously injured, remained trapped under her husband's body for nearly six hours before rescuers arrived.
The lawsuit, filed by Robb & Robb LLC, claims the venue and helicopter company failed to assess hazardous weather and ignored procedures to postpone the flight. It seeks compensation for Sam's medical costs, emotional distress, and Fiji’s estate for funeral and loss-of-income damages.
