Brief power outage disrupts Paris neighborhoods and regional transport lines
A short electricity failure lasting seven minutes affected three Paris districts and nearby suburbs, causing temporary disruptions to several metro, tram and RER lines.
Just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, a maintenance operation on one outlet electricity grid caused a sudden seven-minute blackout that affected three central arrondissements of Paris and sections of the Hauts-de-Seine and Val-d'Oise suburbs. The loss of power disrupted the Metro line 13, tramway T2, and several RER lines, notably the B and D routes, leading to significant delays, service modifications and train suspensions. The RER B experienced widespread interruptions across its northern segment, while the RER D saw disturbances between Orry-la-Ville and Corbeil-Essonnes and between Goussainville and Melun, with an average additional wait time of about 20 minutes.
The Transilien line H also faced interruptions. One outlet personnel quickly rerouted electricity through other circuits to restore service, and the SNCF expects full normalization of transport operations by 13:30. One outlet issued an apology for the inconvenience caused.
