Brighton crushes Arsenal 3-0, ending the champions' perfect start

Brighton defeated Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex Stadium, halting the league leaders' 12-point opening run.

Arsenal entered the Saturday match on a flawless record, having collected all twelve points from their first four Premier League fixtures. Brighton, however, arrived at the Amex Stadium and delivered a commanding performance, scoring three times without reply. Pascal Gross put the visitors ahead after a rebound off the post, and Charlampos Kostoulas doubled the lead by beating goalkeeper David Raya.

In the second half Chema Andrés added a third goal, sealing a comprehensive victory. Arsenal's attack was ineffective, with no attempts on target, and their captain Martin Ødegaard could not create a clear chance for Bukayo Saka. Commentators described the display as one of Arsenal's weakest in recent memory.

Why it matters

The result shatters Arsenal's early dominance and reshapes the Premier League title race.
