Brisbane man faces 34 historic sexual assault charges involving teenage girls
A 67-year-old man from Brisbane has been charged with 34 historic sexual offences alleged to have occurred between the early 1970s and the late 1980s, targeting pre-teen and teenage girls.
A 67-year-old Brisbane resident has been charged with 34 historic sexual offences dating back to the early 1970s, involving five girls who were in their pre-teen and teenage years. Allegations include assaults at a north-Brisbane bakery where the suspect was employed, as well as other locations, with the victims known to him. The case was first reported to police in May last year, and detectives from the Boondall Child Protection Investigations Unit have been leading the inquiry.
The man was arrested in Bracken Ridge last week and faces charges of rape, indecent treatment of girls under 16 and under 17, threatening violence and deprivation of liberty. He was denied bail and is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 28. Senior Detective Derek Harris emphasized the ongoing commitment to seek justice for the survivors.
