British convict ordered deported from Spain after failed appeal over attempted murder case

A British citizen convicted of attempted murder in Granada has lost his appeal against deportation, as the High Court of Justice of Andalusia affirmed the expulsion order. The appellant, who is serving a four-year prison sentence and an eight-year restraining order, argued that his family ties in Spain—specifically a daughter with a Spanish mother—should allow him to remain. Judges rejected this claim, noting a lack of evidence that he maintains contact or provides financial support.

The court emphasized that his extensive criminal history, which includes weapons possession and prior assaults, constitutes a genuine danger to public safety. Spanish immigration statutes mandate removal of foreign nationals with intentional convictions over one year when the record is not cleared. Consequently, the man will be deported once his sentence is completed.
