British couple charged in Mallorca after alleged attempt to force woman into car

During a midday encounter on March 15 in the Son Ferriol neighbourhood of Palma, a 64-year-old woman waiting for her daughter was allegedly forced toward a white car by a British woman. The victim resisted, fell, and shouted for help, prompting her husband and nearby residents to stop the alleged abduction. The suspects, Craig Michael Hughes and Naomi Claire Fryer, left the area in the vehicle and were subsequently located by the National Police’s Robbery Group and taken into custody.

They appeared before the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands on September 10, where prosecutors are seeking nine and a half years of imprisonment for each defendant on charges including unlawful detention and related offences. Both defendants were remanded without bail, and Hughes was heard shouting profanities at journalists outside the courthouse. The case remains pending, with the woman receiving treatment for bruises before being released the same evening.
