British tourist avoids prison after pleading guilty to raping unconscious woman in Mallorca
Billy John Chard, 19 at the time, admitted to raping an unconscious 22-year-old British holidaymaker in a Magaluf hotel and received a two-year suspended sentence.
In July 2022, Billy John Chard, then 19, met a 22-year-old British tourist at a pool party in Magaluf and invited her to his room at the BH Mallorca Resort. After she consumed large amounts of cocaine and vodka, she collapsed and lost consciousness. Chard then raped her twice, first in the shower and later on the bed.
He was detained by the Guardia Civil three days later. In a hearing before the Provincial Court in Palma, he admitted the offenses as part of a plea agreement, receiving a two-year suspended sentence and a requirement to pay €6,000 to the victim in monthly installments. The court considered his intoxication and the case’s procedural delays when determining the sentence.
