Britons claim smartphones and gadgets save them the equivalent of 13 days each year
A recent survey shows UK adults save about six hours weekly thanks to an average of seven devices, with smartphones leading the way.
Research commissioned by Smart Energy GB revealed that UK residents rely on an average of seven gadgets, cutting around six hours from their weekly tasks and equating to 13 extra days per year. Smartphones topped the list of time-saving devices, cited by 42% of those surveyed, with washing machines, online banking, email and air fryers also ranking highly. The survey highlighted that nearly half of participants appreciate the shift from dial-up to instant Wi-Fi, and many value navigation apps over asking for directions.
Generational contrasts emerged, with many Gen Zers never having used vinyl, VHS or CDs, while a majority of Baby Boomers recall manually rewinding tapes and waiting for film development. Smart Energy GB uses the findings to encourage households to upgrade to newer smart-meter kits for more accurate billing and potential savings.
