Brooke High School principal suspended after hidden cameras found in girls' locker rooms
Eric James, the principal of Brooke High School, was placed on suspension and arrested after multiple recording devices were discovered in female locker areas.
Brooke County Schools suspended Eric James, the 53-year-old principal of Brooke High School, after authorities uncovered four covert recording devices in the female physical-education locker room and a separate dance-team dressing area. School security officers, staff and police removed the devices from the campus and later confiscated more equipment at James' home. He is currently detained at the Northern Regional Jail in Marshall County, West Virginia, on a $100,000 bond and has been charged with two felonies: intentionally intercepting electronic communications and breaking and entering a non-residence.
The school district said it will meet with students, parents and staff to provide support while cooperating fully with law-enforcement investigations and conducting its own inquiry. Officials emphasized that student safety, security and privacy are core responsibilities that will not be tolerated when breached.
