Brooklyn NYPD officer arrested for requesting nude video from undercover teen decoy
A Brooklyn police officer was taken into custody after allegedly asking an undercover officer posing as a 16-year-old girl to expose herself during a video call.
Christopher Torres Garcia, assigned to the NYPD's 72nd Precinct in Brooklyn, allegedly engaged with an undercover officer masquerading as a 16-year-old girl after meeting her on August 5. The pair exchanged contact information and later conducted a video call on August 18, during which Garcia is accused of urging the decoy, who said she was taking a shower, to reveal her naked body. Police arrested the off-duty officer in the Bronx around 10 a.m. on Tuesday and placed him on unpaid suspension.
He appeared before Brooklyn Criminal Court on Wednesday, facing charges of official misconduct, attempted dissemination of indecent materials to a minor, and attempted endangering the welfare of a child. Garcia’s attorney declined to comment, and the officer is scheduled to return to court on December 1.
