Brooklyn senior disappears in Las Vegas, family receives suspicious bitcoin requests
Alisa Goods, 63, vanished in Las Vegas after leaving a friend's apartment, and her relatives later got texts from her phone demanding money and bitcoin.
The disappearance of 63-year-old Alisa Goods occurred after she left her friend Roger John's Las Vegas apartment on Aug. 8 to shop at a CVS near the Strip. When her phone, which had been disconnected, began sending texts on Aug. 12, her niece Alana Calloway received messages that claimed Goods was stranded at a gas station and needed money, eventually asking for bitcoin. Calloway pressed for clarification, noting Goods did not own a car and that the name "Kelly" mentioned by the sender was unknown to the family.
Goods' son Keven Newton also received similar cash-soliciting texts. The Las Vegas Metro Police indicated the case lacks priority status, prompting the family to contact medical facilities, the coroner’s office and local jails while distributing missing-person flyers.
