Brooklyn teacher arrested after allegedly hugging 12-year-old and making inappropriate proposals

Emil Agaronov, a 41-year-old educator at Andries Hudde I.S. 240 in East Midwood, Brooklyn, was arrested after allegedly hugging a 12-year-old girl tightly enough that his breast and belt buckle touched her. After the embrace, he reportedly asked the child if she knew the term “Papi,” boasted about preferring Latin women, claimed he wanted a Latin wife, and inquired whether she would stay overnight with him. Authorities charged him with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment, offenses that are not eligible for bail, though he was later released on his own recognizance despite prosecutors seeking supervised release.

The city’s Department of Education said the teacher was immediately removed from classroom duties and could be terminated if the claims are substantiated. NYPD posted Agaronov’s photograph and asked the public to call its Sex Crimes Hotline or Crime Stoppers with any leads.
