Brush fire in La Habra Heights destroys home and triggers evacuations

A brush fire dubbed the Palos Fire broke out near 2400 Las Palomas Drive in La Habra Heights, quickly spreading across about 20 acres by mid-afternoon. Los Angeles County Fire responded at 2:23 p.m. to the blaze on Lupin Hill Road and Las Palomas Drive, battling the flames and attempting to safeguard surrounding properties. The fire engulfed at least one residence, leaving it gutted, and forced authorities to issue an evacuation warning for multiple zones in both Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Emergency personnel evaluated one individual for possible injuries and successfully rescued a horse from the area. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is coordinating with the Orange County Fire Authority, and the fire’s origin remains unknown.
