BTS breaks Spotify record with 10 billion streams in a single year

BTS became the first group to reach 10 billion annual streams on Spotify, driven by their album “Arirang.” The band is currently touring South America.

According to Big Hit Music, BTS has achieved a historic milestone by accumulating 10 billion streams on Spotify within a single year, the first group ever to do so. The streaming surge is largely credited to their fifth full-length album, “Arirang,” which has amassed 5 billion plays since its March debut, making it the most-streamed album released this year. On the day the album dropped, every one of its 14 tracks, including the instrumental “No. 29,” occupied the top 14 positions on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart.

While celebrating the record, BTS is in Santiago, Chile, for three concert dates as part of the “Arirang” world tour. The tour will continue with three shows each in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, before the group returns to Asia. The final performances in Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo will be broadcast in cinemas worldwide on Oct. 24 and Oct. 30 respectively.
