BTS held three shows at Lima’s Estadio San Marcos on Oct. 7, 9 and 10, attracting roughly 151,500 fans, according to BigHit Music. Peru’s tourism ministry projects the concerts will generate about 25.1 billion won, or $19 million, in tourism-related economic benefits, far exceeding its original estimate of 50,000 visitors. The performances marked the group’s first appearance in Peru since debuting in 2013, and the members expressed surprise at the long wait.
Member Kim Tae-hyung celebrated the 100th anniversary of Hangeul Day with a custom T-shirt displaying his Korean name. V’s use of local Spanish phrases onstage earned enthusiastic responses. BTS’s next stops are Santiago, Chile, followed by Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo later in October.
