BTS member V reveals ongoing hearing loss treatment during world tour livestream

V disclosed that he has been undergoing treatment for hearing loss in one ear for roughly two and a half years as BTS continues its Arirang World Tour.

In a live broadcast on Wednesday, V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, told fans he has been receiving medical care for hearing loss in his right ear for about two and a half years, a condition that intensified while he served in the South Korean military. He described his left ear as functioning at full capacity, while the right ear registers roughly 30% of normal hearing, and said he is now taking medication and attending regular hospital appointments.

The revelation came after BTS wrapped up shows in Baltimore, marking a pause in the Arirang World Tour, the group’s first global trek since reuniting after mandatory service. Bandmate Jungkook used the same livestream to discuss a lingering shin injury that could develop into a stress fracture if not properly managed. The tour is scheduled to continue to major markets such as Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Sydney and Hong Kong, with the members balancing performance demands and health concerns.
