BTS's RM to showcase personal art collection at SFMOMA this weekend
RM, leader of BTS, is opening an exhibition of about 140 pieces from his own art collection at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art.
RM, whose real name is Kim Kim Nam-joon (32-year-old), is presenting his personal art collection at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in an exhibition called "RM X SFMOMA: Between You and Me." Opening Saturday and staying open until Feb. 7, the show displays about 140 works from his collection plus additional pieces from SFMOMA’s own archives, totaling roughly 180 items. He worked with museum co-curators America Castillo and Kim Hyo-eun to choose the artworks, which feature leading Korean modern and contemporary artists such as Yun Hyong-keun, Park Rae-hyun and Chang Uc-chin, as well as Korean-American pioneer Paik Nam-june and Western masters like Mark Roth K and Henri Matisse.
RM wrote the exhibition texts in Korean and English, recorded audio-guide narration, and selected the gallery music. The exhibit marks the first museum display of his collection and the first collaboration between SFMOMA and a K-pop artist.
