Bubba Wallace Secures 2026 NASCAR Cup Chase Spot at Daytona Race

Bubba Wallace clinched a place in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona.

During Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, Bubba Wallace of 23XI Racing mathematically secured his spot in the 16-driver 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase. A sixth-place finish provided the two points required, confirming his postseason eligibility before the regular-season finale concluded. Wallace arrived at Daytona 14th in the standings with a 630-point total, enjoying a 75-point cushion over the cutline, while competitors like Austin Cindric and Shane van Gisbergen hovered closer to the threshold.

The early clinch frees Wallace to concentrate on racing for the win rather than defending points. His strong superspeedway résumé includes a Talladega victory in 2021 and multiple runner-up finishes at Daytona. With his Chase berth assured, Wallace will compete for the 2026 championship.

Why it matters

Wallace’s early qualification guarantees his participation in the season-ending championship hunt.
