Budapest court orders one-month detention for suspects in Erzsébetváros murder

In a case stemming from a July altercation on Akácfa Street in Budapest's VII. district, a 36-year-old man was stabbed and later died at the scene. Police apprehended two attackers; the Metropolitan Court ordered a one-month detention for both. One is charged with murder, the other with attempted serious bodily injury.

The Chief Prosecutor's Office cited the suspects' repeat criminal records, ongoing legal proceedings, drug consumption, and efforts to hide the weapon and clothing as reasons for detention. The court also noted the risk of influencing further evidence, as the suspects allegedly involved additional persons after the attack. Both defendants and their lawyers have acknowledged the decision, though the second suspect plans to appeal.
