Bulgarian football club owner Ilijan Filipov shot dead in Plovdiv home
Ilijan Filipov, the majority owner of Bulgaria’s oldest football club, was fatally shot in his Plovdiv apartment early Wednesday.
Filipov, who founded the logistics firm PIMK and held a controlling stake in Botev Plovdiv, was killed around 1 a.m. in his residence in central Plovdiv. Police blocked major entry and exit routes to the city and said they are pursuing every possible lead. District prosecutor Vanya Hristeva announced the investigation at a press briefing, while authorities have not released further details.
